When Charlie McLeary rode into Silver Canyon, Colorado, all he wanted was a drink, a meal, and a woman. What he got instead was caught in the middle of a feud between the miners and the owners of the Squaw Gulch mine. He did not want to take sides, but you can push a man like Charlie McLeary only so far before he does choose, and the losing side will pay a heavy price.

If you've never read a John Legg book, this would be a great introduction; it has all the characteristics of a Legg western. It's fast-paced and packed with action, with themes of love, loyalty and vengeance with honor. It's full of the historically-researched details that western aficionados love and make the plot believable. Set in a mining town, this story is full of intriguing characters, from the stubborn mine owners to the striking minors, to the hired guns paid to beat them into submission. McCleary has fast become one of my favorite of Legg's protagonists; he has the fearlessness and firm sense of right and wrong that I love in western heros, but he also has a short fuse and faulty pride that makes him believable, in addition to putting his life and those around him in danger now and again. When he rides into town, he has no intention of being drawn into the dangerous confrontation between the mine and its owners. He flat out insists he's staying out of it, no matter what. But then again, nobody's perfect...Product details

Showdown At SixGun Mine edition by John Legg Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I would like to recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a very interesting and exciting book where the action never stops. I am finding these books to be very difficult to put down. I will be looking forward to reading the next book from this author.
Good.
Interesting idea and well developed.
Great Read.
This is the best western I have read in quite a while, it
is a many faceted story with believable characters.
This was a very good book, it kept me interested all the way thru the book, the price was very good also, I have bought quite a few books from this Author, was glad from the first book to reading his story's.
I only have one negative thing to say about John Legg; There are not enough Westerns!
I love the way the main character is developed. You have no choice but to like him. Trouble always finds him and he is ready for it. Real man stuff!
There's sportin' and killin' and trying to do the right thing. Moral messages abound.
There are a couple editorial flaws in all of the books. I think it adds to the language and plays a part in the way the characters are looking at things. I'm pretty sure it was not meant that way, but it works just fine for me.
Showdown at Six-gun Mine is just as good as the Coffin series, or the Blood Trail series, or all of them. I have read everything he has written and then tried to find something to capture so much of my attention afterwards. It is really hard to move on from a John Legg book.
